  • 0. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and pork. Add the egg, grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, finely minced garlic (if desired), chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth.
  • 1. With slightly dampened hands, take small portions of dough and shape them into meatballs about 3-4 cm in diameter.
  • 2. Heat a drizzle of oil in a large skillet and brown the meatballs on all sides until golden brown (about 8-10 minutes). If you prefer, you can add the tomato puree and cook over low heat for another 10 minutes, creating a light sauce that will give the meatballs extra flavor.
  • 3. Peel the potatoes and cut them into even pieces. Boil them in plenty of salted water for about 15-20 minutes, until tender.
  • 4. Drain the potatoes and mash them with a potato masher or a fork. Gradually add the butter and warm milk, stirring until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and, if desired, add a pinch of nutmeg for a hint of flavor.
  • 5. Serve the meatballs hot with a generous portion of mashed potatoes. You can garnish with a fresh parsley leaf or a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil for a finishing touch.
