Procedure
0. Dissolve the brewer's yeast in the warm milk with a spoonful of sugar and leave it to rest for 10 minutes, until a light foam forms.
1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt and melted butter. Add the milk and yeast and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Continue kneading the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
2. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and let it rise covered for 1-2 hours, until it doubles in volume.
3. After rising, divide the dough into 8 equal parts and form elongated buns, typical for hot dogs. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
4. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Brush the rolls with the beaten egg and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
5. Using a sharp knife, make a notch at the tip of each sausage to simulate a fingernail. Add small crosswise notches along the sausage to create the effect of finger creases.
6. Insert a slice of onion or a sliver of almond into the top where you cut the sausage to simulate the nail.
7. Heat the sausages in a pan or on the grill until golden and hot.
8. Cut the buns along the side, but not all the way through, so you can insert the hot dogs.
9. Spread ketchup on the inside of the buns to simulate blood.
10. Place the sausages in the buns, making sure the nail and the incisions are clearly visible. Add more ketchup on top of the sausage for an even more "bloody" effect.
