  • 1. In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, add the butter, sugar, molasses, and syrup. Stir vigorously to incorporate the ingredients. Let cool for a few minutes.
  • 2. Combine the beaten egg and milk with the molasses mixture. Add all the liquid ingredients to the flour mixture and mix vigorously with a wooden spoon or spatula until the mixture is smooth.
  • 3. Pour the batter into the pan and bake in the center of the oven for 1.5 hours. To check if it's cooked through, insert a toothpick. Remove from the oven and let cool before cutting.
