Queste ciambelle sono deliziose appena fritte, con una spolverata di zucchero a velo o immerse in una glassa al cioccolato.   • 0. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk together with a teaspoon of sugar and let it rest for about 10 minutes until the yeast activates and foam forms on the surface.
  • 1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, egg, melted butter, and salt. Add the milk with the activated yeast and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, until the dough has doubled in volume.
  • 2. Once risen, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough to about 1-2 cm thick and cut out donut shapes using a pastry cutter (or a glass and a lid to create a hole in the center). Arrange the donuts on a floured baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • 3. Heat the oil in a deep pan to 170-180°C. Fry the donuts, a few at a time, turning once, until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • 4. Once cooled, sprinkle the donuts with icing sugar and serve.
